The Change Collective
a nature-based residency for change makers in the south west
starts 22 may 2024
2 bursary places still available
Why do a Residency?
It’s hard to think clearly in the attention economy. It is even harder to think creatively. And yet the mounting challenges we face as a species mean we need deep, creative thinking more than ever. Many of us are looking for the space and community within which to do this. The Change Collective offers just that – a chance to liberate yourself from daily distractions for 1 day each month, to open yourself to new perspectives and possibilities and to find belonging in a supportive community of peers.
Is it for you?
Are you working towards social and environmental good? Are you craving time and space to think more deeply and creatively? Do you want to be part of an inspiring and supportive crew of fellow change makers who meet up regularly in East Devon? If your answer to these questions is YES, then The Change Collective is definitely for you!
what will we do together?
Our vision for this residency is to pool our collective wisdom and co-create a meaningful 6 month experience that meets everyone where they’re at. We will provide the structure and hold the space within which we can collaboratively design for our group. This will start with a facilitated process to unearth individual and group needs at our first gathering.
With 8 years and over 30 nature-based programmes and training courses under our belt to help people connect, create, facilitate and grow, we have a rich treasure trove of practices and content we can offer. But we know from experience that what you bring is just as powerful. That is why we focus on creating the supportive environment into which you can feel safe to bring your ideas, skills, unique experiences and deepest questions.
Some of the core ingredients we will be working with include:
Time to reflect under expansive skies
Facilitated group coaching around the fire
Explore our biggest ambitions and most challenging questions away from screens and stuck patterns
Workshops to deepen purpose, creativity and transformation
Opportunities to bring content and ideas you want feedback on in a supportive environment
Relaxing in a wood fired hot tub under the boughs of an apple tree
What will you come away with?
Fresh perspectives and creative approaches to your life and work
An inspiring local network, with the potential for ongoing collaboration
Greater capacity to articulate your vision, dreams and ideas
First-hand experience of facilitating group experiences in nature
where will we gather?
Our monthly nature days will happen at a 15 acre small holding just outside of Woodbury Salterton, East Devon. The farm offers a mix of verdant meadows and ancient woodland, as well as easy walking access to East Devon’s Pebblebed Heath - an expansive wild place and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We will have full use of the rustic hay barn if we need to shelter from the weather… as well as the wood fired hot tub in the orchard for those colder days! The farm is a nascent rewilding project with 2000 saplings already planted and other plans on the horizon. This is an exciting time to get to get involved in efforts to increase biodiversity on the farm and there is an option to participate in rewilding work days as part of this residency.
WHO are the hosting team?
Change in Nature was created by us, Chloe Revill and Andy Raingold, two senior sustainability professionals who after many years of working to influence business and policy in Westminster went on personal journeys in nature to renew our sense of purpose and drive. We set up Change in Nature to help people and organisations deeply connect with the change they would like to see in the world and be more fully resourced to make a meaningful contribution in this extraordinary time. We have developed a powerful process to help people reconnect with purpose, build strong personal connections, and significantly enhance their motivation and vitality. Over 1000 people have participated in our programmes and past collaborators include sustainability leader Jonathon Porritt, change maker Mac Macartney, author Giles Hutchins, musician Martha Tilston, film producer Jamie Catto and non-violent conflict transformation practitioner Sarri Bater.
