Myth & Flame

A fireside of mythic wisdom and shared storytelling

Charity donation to Plant One No Trees No Seas campaign (99p - £15)

Held by ‘Campfire Sam’ Crosby and Andy Raingold

Sunday 31st May (gathering from 5.30pm, fireside starts at 6.30pm) at Loveland, Penryn

There was a time the world was understood to be alive. Not poetically or in a far-off way, it was much less abstract.

There is an immediacy to mythology that we rarely make contact with in modernity. The real, felt, textured wisdom filtered by generations to meet us in our modern challenges. Not just the day-to-day, but the deeper thrum you might sometimes feel. Questions of worth, belonging, purpose. What am I busy becoming?

This evening will explore the meaning-making aspects of mythology. In ancient imagery and (with some luck) big clear skies, we’ll pause at a threshold together. If you’re planning to join us, you might consider these three questions:

What is the moment you’re in?

What is ending?

What is beginning?

There will be:

* Traditional Oral Storytelling – We’ll explore live, improvised mythmaking, tapping into the wellspring of fairy tales and folklore that have been told for generations.

* Mythic Common Ground – A timeless practice for community sharing of feeding the story.

* A Reorientation to Your Own Mythic Wisdom“Wisdom isn’t about learning something new; it’s about remembering what you’ve always known.”

* A Big Dose of Depth and Lightness – Embracing both the profound and the playful in our storytelling journey.

* Bring-and-Share Dinner – A communal meal with plenty of warmth and good company.

Thrive in Nature

This is a two-year project supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.

Every six weeks, at key seasonal turning points, we’ll gather for immersive workshops designed to deepen our connection to nature, community, and creativity. Expect songs, storytelling, creative writing, personal enquiry, deep nature connection, and plenty of laughter - all based on donation (99p-£15). Come and be part of this journey! Join our WhatsApp group here to be kept in the loop.

Walk the Way

The hosts for the evening, Sam and Andy, are invite you to Walk the Way: A pilgrimage to the sea for men. This takes us across Cornwall. North to south. Padstow to Helman Tor. Sleeping in sanctuaries, surrounded by other men going through the same ‘territory’. Together, we’ll explore spectacular Cornish coastlines, hidden valleys and ancient sites - while also exploring the terrain within.  Click here for more details.
