Secret Clifftop House in Cornwall

Join us in a stunning clifftop house on the Cornish coast - where waves crash below and seals often grace the shore. This is a space to slow down, sink in and let your songs emerge from a deeper place of connection.

What is the retreat?

Imagine arriving at a secret clifftop house, the salt air greeting you as you step out of the car. Each doorway inside opens to different rooms of creativity: people huddled in corners weaving new songs together, quiet moments of solo reflection, laughter spilling from the kitchen, music floating up the stairs.

Songwriting by the Sea is an immersion into creativity and community. It’s a space where old songwriting patterns loosen, and fresh sparks arrive - through new chords, tunings, melodies, words and ways of listening. The sea itself is our guide and companion: its vastness, rhythm and wildness being a constant source of inspiration and reminding us to hold things lightly, to let songs flow rather than force them.

Here you’ll find inspiration in unexpected places: a fireside jam that runs late into the night, a coastal walk at sunset or a pause while you sit on the rocks that shifts something within. Everything we experience could become part of a song.

What will we be doing?

  • Jamming & Co-creating: Collaborations, shared sessions and improvisation.

  • Workshops: Songwriting symposium, lyric writing, melody exploration, story songs and writing as a tool for emotional recalibration.

  • The Song Snug: A cozy corner for intimate jams or just listening.

  • Mentoring with Martha and others.

  • Exploration & Reflection: Coastal walks, seal spotting, fireside chats and the vast inspiration of the Celtic Sea.

  • Mini Living Room Concert with Martha.

  • Shared Meals & Wisdom: Cooking winter bakes together and sharing song insights, frustrations, magic and laughter.

This is a retreat held in a non-judgement way, away from the pressure of “Am I good enough?” It’s a place to step into your heart’s song, to value creativity for its own sake and to let inspiration flow.

Who is it for?

  • Musicians and songwriters wherever you are on your journey - whether you have taken a few tentative steps or have walked this path for a long time.

  • Instrumentalists curious to explore their own songs, lyricists ready to play with melody or choir singers wishing to try their hand at songwriting.

  • Anyone yearning for a deeper, more authentic connection to their creative path.

If you feel the pull of music, this retreat will meet you where you are.

What will I come away with?

  • A collection of new songs and collaborations.

  • Fresh ideas and creative sparks to enrich your songwriting vocabulary.

  • Inspiration from the sea, the land and fellow music makers.

  • A deeper connection to your authentic voice and a renewed sense of creative freedom.

  • Rest, restoration and a layer of rich creative compost.

This retreat is as much about nourishment as it is about notes: a gift of space and time to reset before the festive season, restoring warmth and providing some cracking songs to carry you through the winter months.

  • "This experience made me so incredibly happy from day one. Magnificently joyful."

  • "I feel more invigoration and inspiration as a song writer, and more confident in leading, singing and collaborating."

  • "The seeds for a life changing experience. A coming home."

The Location

Our retreat is being held in a stunning secret clifftop house on the wild Cornish coast. From the windows you can watch the sea stretch endlessly to the horizon, waves rolling in and seals sometimes swimming through the coves below. Step outside and within five minutes you’re on the beach, breathing in the salt air and feeling the rhythm of the tide.

Secluded and tucked miles away from the main road, the house offers both spacious gathering places and quiet nooks for reflection. It is a place where time slows down.

This land is steeped in myth and legend, carrying stories of selkies and songs that have travelled on the wind for centuries. To be here is to feel part of something ancient and inspiring.

It’s worth the journey: there is nowhere else like this. Utterly unique, restorative and alive with wild beauty. Just take a look at these photos…
