How this can offer fresh perspective to organisation and business teams?
A deep time workshop, which explores Earth's 4.6 billion-year history, provides powerful themes that can offer fresh perspectives for business teams. Here are a few key themes and how they can be applied to common business challenges:
Resilience and Adaptation (Mass Extinctions and Survival)
Life on Earth has faced multiple mass extinctions, yet new forms of life always emerge, often stronger and more adaptable. Major disruptions (asteroid impacts, ice ages) have triggered evolutionary leaps and new innovation. How can business challenges and setbacks be opportunities for reinvention and renewal?
Long-term thinking
Ecosystems evolve over millions of years. How can this inspire businesses to take a more long-term view? How can business consider their legacy and impact?
Collaboration and Synergy
Life flourishes through symbiosis—forests, coral reefs, and entire ecosystems thrive through collaboration rather than competition alone. How can teams, organisations and partners work more collaboratively to create sustainable success?
Embracing Uncertainty and Change
The Earth has never been static—continents shift, climates fluctuate, and species evolve to survive. Instead of resisting change, how can teams build adaptability into their culture and decision-making.
The Power of Small Changes Over Time
While some changes happen suddenly, much of Earth’s transformation is gradual—layer by layer, grain by grain. How can consistent small changes lead to profound transformation over time.

Active Hope for Business Leaders: Navigating the Emotional Landscape of the Environmental Crisis
In an era of accelerating climate change, biodiversity loss, and ecological uncertainty, business leaders are increasingly called to respond - not just strategically, but emotionally and ethically. Yet, the weight of the environmental crisis can be overwhelming, leaving many feeling anxious, powerless or uncertain about their role in creating meaningful change.
Our Active Hope Workshop, inspired by the pioneering work of Joanna Macy, offers a transformative space for business leaders to explore their emotional responses to the crisis and channel them into action. Through guided reflection, experiential exercises and collective dialogue, participants will engage with The Work That Reconnects, a powerful framework designed to move through despair and into purposeful leadership.
Why This Matters for Business Leaders
Emotional Awareness Fuels Resilient Leadership – Suppressing grief, fear, or anger about the state of the planet can lead to burnout and disengagement. This workshop provides a space to process emotions constructively, strengthening resilience and clarity.
From Eco-Anxiety to Inspired Action – Many leaders recognise the urgency of sustainability but feel paralyzed by the scale of the challenge. Active Hope shifts the focus from individual burden to collective empowerment, helping leaders reimagine their influence.
Aligning Business with Regenerative Futures – As stakeholders demand more ethical and sustainable business practices, leaders must cultivate the inner capacity to navigate change, inspire others, and integrate regenerative principles into their organizations.
Going Forth with Active Hope – Identifying practical ways to integrate purpose-driven, sustainable action into business leadership.
This is an opportunity to reconnect with what truly matters and step into a leadership model that is courageous, compassionate, and future-facing.

More about Andy Raingold, Founder of Change in Nature
Andy helps individuals, teams and organisations create meaningful change through transformative, nature-based experiences, expert facilitation training and purpose-driven coaching. His passion lies in supporting people to reconnect with what really matters - fostering resilience, authentic leadership and a deeper sense of purpose in both work and life.
Before starting Change in Nature, He was the Executive Director of the Aldersgate Group, where he had the privilege of working with business leaders, policymakers and NGOs to shape bold environmental policies and drive the transition towards a sustainable, net-zero economy. That experience taught him a lot about the power of strategic influence - but also the importance of personal growth and connection in driving lasting change.
Now, through Change in Nature, he combines his background in sustainability with a love for the outdoors and a deep commitment to helping people thrive. Whether he’s running a leadership retreat, delivering facilitation training or working with an organisation on cultural transformation, his goal is simple: to support the transformation of people and organisations in service to deeper connection, inspired creativity and a thriving relationship with the natural world.
